Disciples Path:  Week 3 – Day 3 – Love Shows Up

Galatians 5:13-14

You were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only don’t let this freedom be an opportunity to indulge your selfish impulses, but serve each other through love.  All the Law has been fulfilled in a single statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.

Your presence is the will of God.  If God thought that the unique mixture of characteristics, tendencies, strengths, weaknesses, and abilities did not have the potential to bless people and the world, you would not have been created.  The way God made you allows you to make an impact on the world that literally no one who has ever been made or ever will be made can make.  You have everything you need to be a blessing to others.

For too many people, though, the gift is not offered.  We feel prompted to go and we stay.  We feel an impulse to make a call, but never pick up the phone.  We feel called to serve in a certain way, but never pursue it.  Our presence is the will of God, but we withhold it.

The irony is that God gave us all this potential, but with it, we were given the choice to use it or not.  This is freedom and it is a wonderful gift of God.  Like so many other gifts, freedom can be used for good, for evil, or no be used at all.  We are free, but God calls us to use that freedom to bless.  To withhold that blessing is to forsake the gift.  The love of God shows up. We are called to show up.

Questions:  What have you felt prompted to do for others, but for whatever reason, you haven’t done anything about it?  What would the first step look like?

Prayer:  Thank you for showing up for us God.  Thank you for making us the way You did.  Give us the confidence and courage to show up for You and the others you’ve place in our lives. Amen.
