Disciples Path Week 5: Day 3 — Seeing as God Sees

Matthew 9:36–38 (NIV) — ‘When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.’

One of the most remarkable things about Jesus was His ability to truly see people. Crowds followed Him everywhere, but He didn’t just see a mass of faces — He noticed individuals. He saw the fear in their eyes, the weariness in their steps, and the emptiness in their hearts. And every time, compassion moved Him to act.

We live in a world filled with people just like that — harassed by worry, helpless in the face of life’s challenges, and hungry for hope. But it’s easy to rush through our routines and overlook the souls around us. Faith-sharing begins when we slow down long enough to see others the way God does.

A simple word of kindness, a listening ear, or a brief prayer with someone in need can be more powerful than a sermon. The Holy Spirit often opens doors for sharing through small moments of compassion. When we take time to notice others and respond with love, we reflect the heart of Jesus — and sometimes that’s all someone needs to take a step toward Him.

Practical Step: Ask God to open your eyes to one person who needs encouragement today. Look beyond the surface — and respond with kindness or prayer.

Prayer: Lord, give me Your eyes to see people the way You see them. Help me notice those who need hope and give me the compassion to respond. Amen.
