Disciples Path Week 5: Day 4 — Passing the Torch

Psalm 71:18 (NIV) — ‘Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your mighty acts to all who are to come.’

Every generation needs to hear about the faithfulness of God, and no one can tell that story better than those who have walked with Him through the years. The older we get, the more clearly we can see His hand guiding, protecting, and providing — even in the seasons that didn’t make sense at the time. Your journey holds wisdom, experience, and hope that younger believers desperately need.

Psalm 71 shows us that God’s purpose for our lives doesn’t end when we slow down or step away from our careers. In fact, one of the greatest callings in later life is to pass on faith — to make sure the next generation knows the God who has carried us. Sharing stories of answered prayer or lessons learned through hardship helps others see that God is faithful in every season.

This kind of legacy doesn’t come from titles or achievements. It’s built through relationships, encouragement, and a willingness to keep pointing people to Jesus. Every time you tell someone how God has been faithful, you’re lighting a torch for them to follow — and helping ensure that His light continues to shine in

Practical Step: Reach out to someone younger — a grandchild, a neighbor, or a younger believer — and tell them one way you’ve seen God’s faithfulness through the years.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for all You’ve done in my life. Help me to pass on what I’ve learned about You to the next generation, so they may know and trust You too. Amen.
