“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19
God is the great story-rewriter. Over and over, we encounter a God who steps into broken narratives and writes new endings — not through force, but through love, patience, and grace. When Isaiah speaks these words, Israel is surrounded by disappointment and failure, yet God insists that new life is already beginning, even if they cannot yet perceive it.
Here’s the thing… God does not depend on ideal circumstances to bring renewal. He brings renewal into the very places where despair has already spoken its piece. Hope appears not as denial but as defiance — a quiet refusal to let the past dictate the future. That is the paradox. Hope does not erase what has been; it transforms what can be.
Wherever your story feels stuck, unfinished, or marked by regret, remember that God specializes in restoration. As long as God is present, the story is still unfolding.
Application:
Consider one part of your story that you’ve assumed is unchangeable. Ask God to show you how He may be doing a “new thing” there — even if the signs are small.
Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to the new work You are beginning in my life.
40 Days of Gratitude Reminder:
Give thanks today for one way God has rewritten or redeemed a chapter of your story.
