Weekday Word w/ Eric

What Grows Quietly Before Becoming Joy

Scripture:
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.” — Psalm 126:5

Joy does not always arrive quickly, but it often grows quietly. The psalmist speaks of joy as something cultivated over time—through faithfulness, perseverance, and trust. Seeds planted in difficult seasons do not remain buried forever.

This is one of the more hopeful paradoxes of joy: what feels exhausting now may become a source of rejoicing later. God does not waste faithfulness. Even unseen obedience carries future fruit. Advent reminds us that waiting itself can be holy when it is entrusted to God.

Joy matures as faithfulness endures.

Application:
Reflect on one small act of faithfulness you are practicing right now, even if it feels unnoticed.

Sentence Prayer:
Lord, help me trust that faithfulness today can lead to joy tomorrow.

40 Days of Gratitude Reminder:
Thank God for one quiet discipline or habit that has strengthened your faith.
