“To those who have been called…” — Jude 1
Reflection
The Christian life begins with a call. Long before we understood everything about God, God was already reaching toward us. Before we knew the right words to pray, grace was already at work. Before we could explain what we believed, God was inviting us into a life of faith.
We sometimes imagine that God calls only those who are unusually talented, spiritually mature, or completely certain. Scripture tells a different story. God called Moses while he was making excuses, Jeremiah while he felt too young, Peter while he was still impulsive, and Paul while he was actively opposing the church.
God’s call is not a reward for readiness. The call itself begins the process of making us ready. God meets us where we are, but God does not leave us there. We are called into relationship with Christ, into community with one another, and into participation in God’s work in the world.
There may be parts of your life where you still feel unprepared. You may not know exactly what God expects from you or where the next step will lead. Faith does not always require a complete map. Sometimes it simply requires enough trust to answer the voice that is calling your name.
Application
Think about one place in your life where you sense God calling you to take a step—toward service, reconciliation, generosity, prayer, courage, or change. Write down one small action that would represent your response.
Prayer
Calling God, thank you for seeking me before I knew how to seek you. Give me the courage to respond even when I feel uncertain or unprepared. Help me trust that you will provide what I need as I follow. Make my life attentive to your voice and available to your purposes. Amen.
